Creating content can be both exciting and nerve-wracking, especially if you're a small business owner diving into the world of video for the first time. Between figuring out what to say and how to act natural in front of a camera, the whole process can quickly become overwhelming.

I'm Justin Balczak, the owner of Dextra Films, and I know the struggle firsthand. That's why I'm on a mission to alleviate some of that stress for you. In today's blog post, I'm sharing three comprehensive yet easy-to-follow video scripts to help you get started. These are perfect for anyone who’s been staring at a blank page or a blinking cursor, unsure of what to say or how to say it.

In these early stages, the most important thing as that you establish who you and your business are, what you stand for, and what you offer. It's time to get your feet wet and let the world know you have arrived!

Video Script 1: How We Got Started & Our Mission

Opening Scene:

(You are seated in a relaxed, homey setting, perhaps your own living room or a cozy corner of your business.)

Lines:

  • "Hey there, I'm [Your Name] and this is the story of [Your Business Name]."

Cut To:

(Photos or even brief footage of the business in its infancy or you working on initial concepts.)
  • "You see, back in [Year], I noticed [Problem/Gap in the Market]. That's when the idea for [Your Business Name] hit me."

Transition To:

(Back to you in the opening scene.)
  • "We opened our doors with a mission in mind. We aim to [Your Mission Statement or Core Values]."

Closing:

  • "So next time you're looking for [What You Offer], think of us. We're not just another [Type of Business]; we're a dream realized, serving you with a purpose."

Video Script 2: Why Our Product/Service Rocks & Why People Love Us

Opening Scene:

(You are in the 'heart' of your business—kitchen, workshop, office, job site, etc.)

Lines:

  • "Hey again! [Your Name] here, coming to you from where all the magic happens. Let's talk about why people can't stop talking about our [Product/Service]."

Cut To:

(Demonstrate the product/service or even show it being made.)
  • "What really makes our [Product/Service] special is [Unique Features or Ingredients]. It's not just about selling something; it's about delivering an experience that our customers know they can rely on, time and time again."

Transition To:

(Insert snippets of customer testimonials. If you don't have any yet, you can use generic lines and ask customers to just provide a couple sentence response on what they enjoy about your services.)
  • "Of course, I could drone on about this, but I think our satisfied customers say it better."

Closing:

  • "Come see why all of our customers are raving about [Your Business Name]. Visit us at [Website] and we look forward to helping you with your next big [Product/Service]."

Video Script 3: The Future & Big Plans

Opening Scene:

(You in an environment that suggests creativity and planning, like a home office with notes and brainstorm sketches.)

Lines:

  • "Hello, it's [Your Name]. We've talked past and present, but what about tomorrow? What's the future for [Your Business Name]?"

Cut To:

(Show some visuals—could be rough sketches, a bullet-point list of future goals, etc.)
  • "We've got some ambitious plans. Think [New Features/Services], expanded locations, and even [Another Big Idea]."

Closing:

  • "We're thrilled about the journey ahead and we invite you to be a part of it. So keep an eye on us—big things are coming, and we'd love for you to be a part of them."

And that wraps it up—three plug-and-play video scripts designed to introduce your business, feature what you do best, and share your aspirations for the days ahead. Starting is often the hardest part, but with a solid script, half the battle is won.
